Wondering

Dear Emma Kate,

I woke up this morning wondering.

About you.

What are you doing at 5pm in Fujian?

Is it sunny there today, and did you play outside?

Did anyone give you a hug or smile just at you this day?

What are weekends like in your orphanage?  Do you miss the school week?

Are you feeling loved?

Protected?

Safe?

We are missing you and long to hold you.  Saturdays and Sundays here somehow aren't quite the same now that we know you belong with us.

Soon.

Soon I will KNOW what you are eating for dinner, what your hair looks like when it's sleep-tousled and fresh from bed, how you spend your weekends and the smell and weight of you in my arms.

Soon.

Waiting and wondering from afar will end.

Waiting and wondering together will begin.

Soon.

So we pray as we wait, knowing today is one day closer to you.  One less sleep to seeing you face to face.

Love to you, Little Jade, sweet YuXiao, this Lord's Day.

This is the day that our Lord has made, and we rejoice and are glad in it.

We love you.
Momma
