Today a friend gave me a gift. And I know she must not have known in advance, but it was not simply a kind, thoughtful and gracious gift from her, it was also a Kiss from my King. A reminder of the One who is bringing all of this to pass. And words to my heart. A reminder He keeps speaking over me again and again and again.
I was floored when I opened it. It was John 14:27, painted on a beautifully petite canvas. It is exquisite. And not only for how it looks, it is exquisite for what it means, too.
As I sat admiring it, I suddenly realized that the initials on the side were hers. She didn't just give it to me, she made it!
It is sitting upstairs right by my dressing area sink. Right next to another reminder of God's faithfulness and goodness; next to the perfume bottle from Thirsty Hearts. That perfume bottle that traveled in Mimi's suitcase all the way from far, far away to remind me of my Great and Amazing God. To remind me of much when I feel little and weak. To remind me. And now, another reminder!
How gracious of God to encourage my heart through a friends kindness. How like our God to take a beautiful gift and make it into something bigger.
