swimming "school"

Oh, yes it is true!

Emma Kate fulfilled a number of dreams this morning when she:
  1. went swimming
  2. went to "school"
More aptly put, Emma Kate began a short series of swim lessons, heretofore referred to as school, since she desperately wants to go to school and this counts as a class.

So says the principal and head administrator. (that would be moi)

The goggles were on in the car to take her siblings to school.  She was so excited!  They stayed on all the way to and through the lesson.  That's my accessory girl.

She's so comfortable in them, I think I officially have my onion slicing partner in the kitchen.  And if you don't know why in the world someone would wear swim goggles to cut onions, you obviously were not raised by my mother who had Kiki and I in swim goggles in the kitchen.  The pink ones were preferred. Why?  Hello!  Rose-colored world.

Back to the lesson.

I'd say "like" is a mild word to describe how Emma Kate felt about her swim school.

Miss Amy, her teacher, did a beautiful job instructing.  She was enthusiastic, kind, adapted to Emma's eagerness and skillfully wove play with learning.  There is only one other student in Emma's class, and she was absent today.  So God provided a private lesson for little Emma on her first day in the school water.

Go, Emmacakes, go!

I didn't need a counter-full of gorgeous yellow onions today to see the world through rose-colored glasses!  Joy burst forth from my mother's heart as I watched my little one, who a mere two months ago stumbled over curbs.

What a sturdy heart and brave spirit in this daughter of ours.  What delight to see so many firsts that she is able to acknowledge as firsts and tuck them away for her in my mother-heart.

This is not, however, a first cinnamon sugar bagel.  No, siree.  Emma Kate has the swim school = bagel treat down.  Big sister Anna trained her well!

Isn't she so adorable?  We sure think so.
