spring fling in the screen porch {or recovery, day there}

the weather outside is soooo delightful.

much better than the Christmas carol that ran through my head as I typed those words.

Ahh.  Spring in Minnesota.

Fleet of foot.

Spring always well, springs us right into summer.  Brief.

And we love each day of it.  Brevity, perhaps, making the heart grow fonder?

This afternoon someone and I sat outside to celebrate the day and eat our lunch!

Oh, so refreshing to be outside!  Okay, mostly outside!
I'm just yearning to get out in the gardens.  We've been cleaning out beds these past few days.

We had Emma's new favorite:

"peanut butter and jelly".

She's her Momma's girl.

Mom, that photo is for you!  I ate this lunch almost every day from first grade to twelfth grade.  I know my Mom occasionally threw in a ham sandwich for variety, and I think I recall being disappointed on those days.  Yes, I am a creature of habit.  Yes, we frame that as reliable, NOT BORING.

Got it?  Good.

Because my Emma, she clearly inherited that trait from me.  Yes, she did!

I even taught her the top secret family trick for perfection in peanut butter and jelly sandwich indulgence {besides a glass of icy cold skim milk}:

If you don't know what that picture is referring to, than I'm sorry for you.  And I give you a "bless your heart".  And if you don't like it that way, I'm doubly sorry for you and your poor taste.  We can't all be so gifted in the culinary taste department, I guess.

Ha.

Here's someone enjoying her lunch immensely.
Welcome, spring!  We're so glad you are here.

Oh, the memories of a potato chip-stuffed sandwich. My preference was for a bologna-chip sandwich...I'll have to give the PB&J version a try next time. We've been keeping up with your blog and it sound like Dr. VanHeest did a great job. It is so neat to see your journey and the likely parallels we may face in the next year. We are praying for a speedy recovery for Emma!
