and counting!
We leave for the hospital shortly.
Jim and I will update the blog as the day, and surgery, go along.
Emma's surgery begins at 8:30 am {CST}.
It is a 2.5 hour procedure with two surgeons working in tandem.
Dr. Van Heest will work on Emma's right hand while Dr. Fletcher repairs her left calf. Then Dr. VanHeest {good Dutch girl that she is} will move on over to the left foot.
Emma should be out of surgery around 11:00am {CST}.
We move through differing stages of recovery rooms. And they anticipate, if everything goes as planned, that we will be discharged to return home by 2pm.
Yes, you did read that correctly.
Yes, we are trusting our incredibly capable and very thoughtful doctors on that. Because it is a little startling to think we'll be returning home today with all Emma will have gone through.
Even so, home will be sweeter to her than there. And that is good.
Emma will have some sort of cast on her hand and her foot/leg for a month.
Yes, you read that correctly. A month.
Bless her dear little heart. We do covet your prayers for our sweetheart.
This is God's good day of restoration for our daughter. His mighty provision, intended all along, and brought to pass here in our midst. Our God is mighty to save, and tend. And as He cares for her tenderly, we rejoice at the plans He has for her, not only for the future, but for now. We proclaim Him good, and just. We remind ourselves again, as he told us all along, that Psalm 126 is for her and for us for this time.
And we pray it this morning, His perfect Word, in wonder and in peace and in trust:
Psalm 126
A song of ascents.
1 When the LORD restored the fortunes of[a] Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.[b]
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
4 Restore our fortunes,[c] LORD,
like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
Please pray, also, for Emma's friend, Grace. Grace is meeting her new family in Fuzhou. It is a big day, indeed.
Love from all of us,
Sara, Jim, Emma and her siblings
