17 days!
and a package.
We have a bit of a family tradition that has developed with Nana and Papa, Jim's parents. Nana is an amazing seamstress (yes, you are, Elaine, so don't pretend you are not!), and she is also a fun crafter.
Nana made Anna's baptism dress. It was exquisite and darling all at once. The kids all have warm, cozy bathrobes embroidered with their initials on the pocket, Nana made one Christmas. And then came the year of the blankets.
The blankets. Large fleece cuddly blankets. Each of us received one. And they were all different in pattern and color. The kids adore them. They drag them on car rides to the cabin, wrap up in them on weeekend mornings, use them as an extra layer in their beds on chilly winter nights. Every time we go to the cabin, they bring them. Sleepovers: look in the duffel bag. There's the blanket!
Yesterday I arrived home to a large white box siting by our side door.
And when I opened it up, there it was.
A blanket!
For Emma Kate.
From her sweet Nana and Papa.
It is adorable. And pink. With stars. Cutest thing ever.
There was a note, too. But I haven't read it yet. Jim is out of town and I wanted to open it with him.
I had enough tears just over the blanket alone!
It is such a blessing to know how loved Emma Kate is by an entire family. By generations of us awaiting her arrival. She is loved and cherished by many. She is adored and beloved by all of us. And what joy it brings to see the love the Lord knits.
Thank you, Nana and Papa! We love you dearly and are so grateful for you both. You are a blessing.
"For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." - Psalm 100:5
