Tuesday, limping along with a smile

Emma Kate is doing great!

Her pain is being managed well between her prescription medicine and tylenol.  We keep alternating between the two, and hope to wean completely to tylenol tomorrow.

We began the day with a lovely sponge bath and some salon time sprawled across our bathroom vanity getting the royal head wash.  :)  Emma thought it was grand.

Our kind neighbors loaned us their jogger/burley for a few days so we can be outside and in the fresh air with ease.  I took three walks with Emma today, and was in heaven.  She loved riding.

Jim stayed home today, for moral support as well as physical support.  Lugging 50 pounds up and down our stairs is hard work!

By the end of the day,  Emma Kate has been gingerly bearing weight on her left leg.  She limps along, and still manages to keep a smile on her face.

We did spend most of the day quietly resting.  And she sat in the jogger and watched Jim cut a tree down in the backyard this afternoon while I dragged the branches streetside.  That sounds more dramatic than it was!  It was a small buckthorn tree we were so glad to say good-bye to.

We are awaiting the boys' arrival home from Luke's batting practice and a run to the sports store for some track gear.  Then it is salmon, roasted tomatoes and fresh sugar snap peas on cous cous for dinner.  We have a special toast to two of our kiddos tonight!

We will issue props to Emma for bravery and courage.  She receives the Joshua award tonight!

Luke is receiving commendation based on an email from his teacher entailing the kindness he has shown a new student at school.  Luke has gone out of his way to include this boy and help him feel that he belongs despite what sounds like some kids that are making it hard for him to feel welcome.  We are proud of Luke.  This shows honor and compassion.  The simple kindness and hospitality that we all desire, isn't it?  Luke receives the Barnabas award.

So ends the day!  It has been a good day.  Pretty amazing, I'd say!
