organizing frenzy {giddy joy!}

Can joy be giddy?  If it is, then I am!

Jim, prepare thyself.

So, um.  I've been reading up, and having marathon "talking sessions" {because if presidents do that, why shouldn't home managers?} with a certain friend, and, well;

I've been organizing.

Yes, I am the proud new owner of a label maker.

Oh, the joy!  I had no idea how satisfying.  Or impactful on one's organizational abilities.

Okay.  I realize "impactful" is not a word, but come on!

Taking dominion over my little corner of entrusted creation!

Those are a variety of family binders I use {and am using} to organize and streamline our family life.  Some variety of this system I've long used, however it is now expanded and becoming all-encompassing.

I'm so excited.  And happy.  And thrilled with how it is coming together.

Here is a glimpse of a portion of our "financial binder".  It is still in the works, but the preliminary pieces involve such goodness as:

All bills divided into times of month they are due.  Open them, toss them in the appropriate pouch.
See!
Checks and pre-address returned envelopes in their own little compartment at the ready.  No more making three trips to the office armoire to get suppplies!
You need stamps?  Oh!  Here they are.  Right where they belong.  Ready to go on your bills and out the door.

There's more to come, but that is the beginning basics.

I couldn't be happier!

The family binder has been indispensible to me in keeping track of activities and kids paperwork for years.  Everything in its place and a place for everything.

Expanding to a meal planning and kitchen binder has my blood racing.  There are meal planning sheets and pantry lists, refrigerator lists and freezer inventories.  It is so satisfying.

There is true contentment in home-keeping.  I am very happy to be learning some new strategies and methods for organizing and managing our family and our household.  I can't recommend enough, regardless of the size of your family, "Large Family Logistics".  It is like a textbook for family and home keeping.  I've gleaned many tips and ideas.  Her practical, common sense strategies are invaluable!  It is truly a primer on household management and logistics for any family.  I wish I'd read it seventeen years ago!

There's nothing like a label maker, some pretty binders, a sick day and a plan to make a girl giddily busy at home!

Cheers to labels!  Do you think I've gone too far if I label the kids?
