Where to start?
What a day it has been.
And honestly? Orchestrated perfectly by the Lord.
This is what I woke up to this morning...
A cast. With no Emma in it!
houdini!
Somehow in the night she must have pulled it off.
She greeted me silently with huge eyes thinking there would be big trouble in little China, so to speak. Well, there wasn't big trouble or even big drama. I could tell she was scared and feeling bad, and just loved on her. We looked at her hand and exclaimed over her five fingers and I kissed each one.
Anna was standing in the background exclaiming in glee at how great Emma Kate's fingers looked.
Our sneak peek has us soooo excited! I cannot believe how great her fingers look a mere three days after surgery. And Dr. Van Heest's work is extraordinary.
I'm going to give you a sneak peek, too. Take note, the skin grafts are taking but are the dark colors, and the stitches are, obviously, very evident. Do you see that adorable hand?!
Oh, my goodness graciousness. I'm just in awe.
I can't wait to kiss each precious finger, hold it and watch all that Emma Kate is going to do with that adorable, sweet hand.
Violin, you had better be ready!
Well. We had one problem with our morning. We had a super important appointment with our ENT surgeon at 10:30. And a meeting with the speech pathologist to prep for it at 9:50.
What's a cruise director to do?
I dragged out our sterile surgical supplies and wrapped her hand up to as closely resemble the bandaging that was wrapped around Emma Kate's hand inside the cast. I vaguely used what I recalled Dr. Van Heest's explanation was of how they wrapped it. And off we went.
Remember the Gilligan Island's theme song? That was us.
We went on a three hour tour of the Children's Hospitals in our town.
Starting at Children's Minneapolis we met with our speech pathologist and Dr. Sidman {huge praise report to share! such a victory}, and then drove over to Gillette's in St. Paul, where they fit us in for a 12:15 casting appointment and a quick peek form Dr. Van Heest. We even arrived with enough time to gulp down the lunch I'd bought for us in the gift shop at Children's {Greek Salad for me, fruit cup and sandwich for Emma}.
We were back in the car, newly casted and driving home at 12:38.
not.kidding.
I feel like time was stretched today. I cannot figure out how all of that happened in such a short time.
And so leads us to Emma Kate's traitorism. Please see below:
Remember the color of the first cast? And the fact that one big brother purposely chose to encourage one littlest sister by choosing the same color cast?
What's a girl to do? It is so boring to choose the same color when given an option.
Proving herself her mother's girl, Emma Kate opted for a new color. I mean, why repaint a room the same color when there's a rainbow of goodness out there just waiting to be used. Right.
Back to casts. Emma deserted Cooper. I'm sure he'll be reallllly upset. :) Ha.
It was quite a morning.
